The churchyard at Mawnan Church was closed in 2015 and is no longer accepting interments, unless there is a prior agreement in place with the Church. All enquires about existing graves, additional interments or changes to headstone still need to be addressed to the church. As of 1st January 2023 the parish council will not accept Diocese forms for burials or memorials in the next door Mawnan Community Graveyard.
Please DO NOT commission headstones or memorials until the Application to Install a Memorial has been signed off by the parish council/ clerk. Any costs incurred before we have agreed your memorial are your own responsibility.
You can find here details of the current graveyard cutting contract, which shows levels of cutting and yearly timings. We’d ask if you have any issues with how the site looks just to check these before logging a complaint to the clerk as it may be the area/ time may not be listed in the contract as needing specific cutting at this time.

Locating a Grave in Mawnan Churchyard
As part of a project by the Parish Council to help visitors and parishioners alike locate the graves of individuals we installed a new sign up at St Mawnan Church .
In conjunction with the database (available below) this map can be used to find burial information and grave locations in the old churchyard.
Finding a specific grave in Mawnan Churchyard
The churchyard at Mawnan Church was closed in 2015 and is no longer accepting interments, unless there is a prior agreement in place with the Church. All enquires for interments would need to be addressed to them.

Also there are efforts being made by individuals to add to the Find a Grave open database which shows images, inscriptions and details about graves and gravestones in the churchyard. If you have some free time (and it’s nice weather) you might take a visits with the intention of photographing a few memorials and uploading this to the site. this links in well with the PC information on finding a grave in Mawnan Churchyard as show above. Find a Grave is nothing to do with the parish council.
