New homes at Nansloe

Image

Coastline Housing has welcomed the first 20 families to new homes on its Nansloe development in Helston.

The local housing charity handed over keys to the happy new residents during one big handover day and many of them were all moved in by that night.

Of the first phase of 20 homes, 14 were offered to local people at an affordable rent and six were offered on a shared ownership basis for people looking to get a step on the housing ladder.

Altogether, Coastline is developing a scheme of 75 homes at Nansloe, with further phases being completed and handed over to residents through to late summer 2019.

Coastline Construct project celebrates a milestone in Helston

There were celebrations in Helston when past and present participants of the Coastline Construct programme working on our Nansloe development came together to mark the end of this phase of the project.

Coastline Construct is a programme run by Coastline Housing in partnership with a number of local agencies to offer local people a chance to obtain their CSCS card, have training in trade skills and gain real life work experience on a construction site.

The back-to-work programme was designed to help unemployed people discover, or rediscover, skills that would help them gain employment in the construction industry. Since the programme started in 2018, 46 participants have taken part. Many these have since gone on to secure employment or further training.

Rounded Rectangle: Animal encounters

Weird and wonderful creatures visit Miners Court.

Residents at Miners Court in Redruth were delighted to meet, cuddle and hold a variety of animals and learn some fascinating facts about them during an animal encounter experience.

Rabbits, guinea pigs, a ‘skinny pig’, an African hedgehog, royal python, giant centipede and a tarantula all made their way into the Coastline Housing scheme to spend time with residents.

The animals were brought in by Talons Owltimate Encounters, who also spoke at length to residents about the animals’ natural habitats, eating habits and more.
